Original photography for editorial, advertising, and display. My subject strengths include science and adventure travel, dynamic images from the Celtic world, and photographs of the skies above.
"Text and Photographs by David Cortner" I make the most of one to four-week opportunities worldwide to provide text, photographs or complete editorial packages. See these clips from recent assignments in Australia, Mexico, Canada, and New Mexico.
My photographs have appeared on the cover of the Washington Post Travel Section, in Astronomy magazine, CameraWorks online, the Charlotte Observer, National Wildlife, Sky and Telescope, Baja Life, in books from Tehabi Press, Cambridge University Press, Kalmbach Press and other outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom. You can find my work in outlets from the Encyclopedia of Appalachia to San Diego: Then & Now to the silver screen (go see "Cold Mountain" and guess which scene is consists mostly of one of my photographs).
I do web design and implementation through Highland Creek Design for a variety of clients.
Fine Art Prints of many of the photographs on this site can be prepared for anyone concerned with finding the right accent for public and private spaces — individuals, interior designers, decorators.
Etc. CD design and layout, company reports, portfolios for sculptors and other artists and artisans... Studio and environmental portraits. Selected weddings and events (Komen NC Foothills Race for the Cure, the Caldwell County Traditional Musicians Showcase, etc.). And just for fun and protraiture practice, Halloween @ Rivercliff (2003, 2005, 2007).
