Arcade Prominence

A long-duration M-class flare lit up this sunspot group as it was about to rotate out of view around the limb of the Sun. As the flare died out, magnetic fields reconnected and an "arcade prominence" --a series of loops of glowing hydrogen -- quickly developed. I just happened to be trying out a newly modified solar telescope at the time. Luck counts.
