Case Study: It Must Be Something in the Water

The concept was a celebration of the traditional musicians of
Caldwell County, North Carolina. The producers asked for a design
wrapped around the idea that "there must be something in the water"
to explain why so many of their neighbors are so musical.

These components -- the back of a mandolin, two picks,
and a couple of wet rocks -- comprise the finished design
in which digitally synthesized water rushes over a
stream bed of "Fender pebbles."

Studies for the reverse included these images
of dobro player Jaret Carter and the distinctive
curves of a mandolin.
