Photographer David Cortner
Johnson City Public Library, 2007

August - October, 2007

The Photographs chosen for this show were selected from prior exhibits at the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, and at the Caldwell County Arts Council in Lenoir, NC.

They include images made in celebration of the natural world and others produced for the promotion of the extraordinary musicians of western North Carolina. Notes about specific photographs can be found by clicking any image on this site.

Galleria Space at the Johnson City Public Library was made possible by the patrons of the library. Thank you very much!

Technical notes &
Things you need to know. . .

All prints offered for sale are photographic prints on Kodak Endura paper. Displayed properly, they'll outlive you and your children. However, framed prints shown in this exhibit have not been prepared using archival materials. The glass is not UV-resistant. The mats and mounting boards are buffered but not acid-free. Mats for the exhibition prints were cut from Crescent SRM987. Frames are gun metal aluminum, profile P1, from FramingSupplies, Inc. of Hendersonville.

Framed prints for sale are mounted using "archival corners" for easy removal and remounting using the buyer's preferred mats and materials. ("Transit of Venus" and "Portage Lake" are permanently mounted to non-archival mounting boards and thus are not offered for sale as framed works. I'll be happy to supply prints of these works for you to frame as you see fit. )

There's only one framed instance of each photograph available, but all print-only offers are unlimited editions. If you want the framed print straight off the wall, I'll be happy to sell it to you (except for the two noted above). Just drop me a line at davidcortner@pobox.com or use the contact form (click here) and I'll make all the arrangements for you to claim it at the library at the conclusion of the show. Shipping framed works can be a bear, but we can work that out, too, if you're from outside the area.

Prints can be signed by request. Use the "message to seller" field during check out to tell me that you'd like your print signed, and I'll oblige with an enthusiastic scrawl in the margin below the lower right corner. You and your framer can decide whether to expose the signature or leave it concealed below the mat. Also, there's nothing sacred about the sizes offered: I realize that what works in a spacious gallery might not work in your living room. I'll be happy to discuss alternate sizes. I can't really reduce pricing for smaller prints very much since you're mostly covering time already invested in finishing an image rather than out-of-pocket lab and materials costs, but I'll be happy to work with you to make sure you get a print that's appropriate to your available space. And if you want something larger for a public space, we can do that, too.

You're welcome to use your credit card, and you do not need to join or to be a member of Paypal to order.

Unframed, unmatted prints will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. Priority shipping for a single print to any US or Canadian address will be $6.00. Order two or more and shipping is free. There is a governor's cut only if you have the print deliverd in NC. 7% sales tax will be added for prints delivered to my neighbors in NC. If anything arrives damaged, just send it home for a replacement; I'll cover shipping both ways.
