The Transit of Venus

In 2004, Venus passed in front of the Sun for the first time since 1882. I set up a 5-inch refractor despite rain and clouds (if James Cook sailed halfway around the world to see this in 1769, who am I not to drive half a mile for a good eastern horizon?) and was rewarded with a few minutes of clearish skies just after dawn.
