Chaco Observatory
A 25-inch telescope lives in America's backyard courtesy of amateur astronomer John Sefick. This is one of my favorite selfies. That's me in the hat taking a group of visitors for a tour in April 2001. The photo includes a fisheye view inside the dome, a long exposure to capture the star trails and a not-quite-so-long exposure to capture the interior of the observatory. I shot the latter two frames using a tripod-mounted camera on top of the visitor center of Chaco Culture National Historic Park, aka "Chaco Canyon" in northwestern New Mexico.
