Rear View Mirror (Study)

shown framed 24x36

Eastbound through the Cimarron Strip, looking forward to a familiar hotel room in Guymon, OK, I got fascinated by the shadows and colors of nightfall on the high plains. I used the motion of the car to simplify the near landscape and its dark interior as a framing device. The rear view mirror catches bright light in the western sky; the shadow of the Earth rises obliquely in the distance. This photo was made a few years after and just a couple of miles east of  "Cimarron Strip" (see #20). Same landscape, different treatment.
