Venus Among the Pleiades

shown framed 24x32

On the evening of April 3, 2004, the brilliant planet Venus, the eveing star, visited the bright star cluster, the Pleiades. This is a combination of several 30-second to two-minute exposures, carefully combined to control the brilliance of the planet while still bringing out the much fainter filamentary reflection nebulosity that wreathes the blue Pleiades.

The title alone made the photo worth shooting: Venus Among the Pleiades; the goddess of Love visits the Seven Sisters. C'mon, you just have to take note of an event like that.
