Measuring the Dawn
Amateur-astronomer-turned-ranger, G. B. Cornucopia takes
aim at the rising Sun from a ledge below the pit village
Shabickashee, a proto-Pueblo site in the east Canyon.
Some petroglyphs and pictographs mark ancient sun-watching
stations. G. B. arrived on this ledge beneath suggestive
rock art well before dawn on the spring equinox to see if
a rock spire on the far side of the canyon aligned with the
rising Sun.
