Corner Window, Pueblo Bonito
Only a handful of ancient structures in the Southwest have windows like
this one. This corner window in Pueblo Bonito faces the same view shown
by the previous photo (the Sun calendar from the "mystery crib").
Dawn's early light streaming through this window would have projected
a sharp, brilliant shape on the (now vanished) wall behind it, and there
is no other obvious reason to weaken a wall junction by setting a window
into it. But was this window a Sun-watcher's post? Don't be too
sure: there is evidence that another now-vanished wall once blocked the
view east to the rising Sun.
